We are here at our newest project in Old Town, Alexandria and this beauty is tentatively coming to the market in October!
This property is in a historic district, so we must keep the renovation style consistent with all the other homes. The porch and the front yard have been fully restored with a wood railing on the porch, flagstones on the walkway, beautiful landscaping, and a white picket fence.
The main level has a 9-foot ceiling and a wide staircase with tons of charm that we kept. The tiny galley kitchen has been completely transformed! We have added a large pantry, a half bath to the main level, and added a 9-foot island with bar seating that’s perfect for the family and entertaining.
Moving to the upstairs level, although these old homes have a ton of character, they usually only have one full bath, so we completely reconfigured this floor and created a primary suite with an en-suite bathroom, two more rooms, and a second bath for the kids to share.
In the basement, we have completed all the framework and ductwork and although this home had no central AC, we have added a brand-new dual zone HVAC system. We created a full rec room, laundry room, fourth bedroom with a full bath while keeping the much-loved character of this home. This basement will offer opportunities for either an in-law-suite or Airbnb which would allow you to maximize the investment.
In the backyard, we painted the brick, rebuilt the deck, and added a flagstone patio with flower beds around it and a swinging door so that you can access the alley or use it as parking. Anytime you get into the city, parking is at a premium, and trying to figure out every little thing we can to maximize the space is what we do best.
